Privacy Notice

Last updated: 26 July 2026

This Privacy Notice explains how Gravity Arena ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information when you join our launch list, contact us, or use this website. We are committed to processing your information lawfully and transparently in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

This notice reflects Gravity Arena's current pre-launch activities. Once the venture is formally registered, our company registration number and registered address will be added to the details below; in the meantime, the contact details in this notice are the best way to reach us.

01 Who we are

02 What information we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • Launch-list details: your name, email address, and (optionally) the interests you tell us about — for example family visits, school programmes, esports, corporate events or partnerships.
  • Enquiry details: any information you include when you email us or make a partnership enquiry.
  • Technical information: basic, non-identifying information your browser sends automatically (such as your approximate region and device type) when loading this page and the third-party resources it uses.

We do not knowingly collect information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If a learner under 18 wishes to be involved in our school or STEM programmes, we ask that a parent, guardian or school representative provides their details on their behalf.

03 Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We process your personal information to:

  • Add you to our launch list and send you opening dates, founding-member offers, event invitations, tournament and STEM workshop announcements, and related updates about Gravity Arena;
  • Respond to your enquiries and partnership requests;
  • Understand which experiences and programmes people are most interested in, so we can plan accordingly.

Our lawful basis for sending you marketing and launch communications is your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box on our launch-list form. Providing your information is voluntary — but if you don't provide it, we simply cannot add you to the launch list or respond to your enquiry.

04 How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

We may share limited information with trusted service providers ("operators") who help us run the launch list and this website — for example, our email/list-management provider and website hosting provider. These providers process information only on our instructions and are required to keep it secure. Where a provider is located outside South Africa, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a comparable level of protection, as required by POPIA.

This website uses Google Fonts and, where you choose to view it, an embedded Facebook page feed. These third parties may receive technical information (such as your IP address) directly from your browser when their content loads. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.

05 How long we keep it

We keep your launch-list information for as long as you remain subscribed and Gravity Arena is actively communicating with its community, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first. Enquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards.

06 How we protect it

We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard your information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it.

07 Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and request access to it;
  • Ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or out of date;
  • Ask us to delete or destroy your information;
  • Object to us processing your information;
  • Withdraw your consent at any time — either by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@gravityarena.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time.

08 Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal information properly, we'd like the chance to put it right — please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa):

09 Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time as Gravity Arena grows and formalises its operations. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated to our launch-list subscribers.
